Diagnosis of Asthma I'm not sure whether I have asthma or frequent bouts of Bronchitis and my Doctor's appointment isn't until September. How can I differentiate between the two? My "episodes" last between 7 and 20 days where I can not function because of exhaustion, my chest is tight and I want to sleep all the time. Any ideas? In some cases, asthma is caused by bacteria that you could have gotten during a cold, a bout with bronchitis, flu or pneumonia. One is mycoplasma and the other is chlamydia pneumoniae (not to be confused with pneumonia OR the std form of chlamydia). If the bacteria isn't totally eradicated by taking the right antibiotic for a longer than normal period of time, it can cause asthma and you'll find you're sick a lot, always fatigued, etc. If you have any questions about anything you're reading on the asthmastory site, please write me personally. I was a forum moderator, but the site owner shut the forum down recently due to attacks by hackers, spammers and trolls. My asthma was completely resolved after 33 years and he was.....mostly resolved, .....after being treated with a once a week round of Azithromycin for twelve weeks. http://groups.google.com/group/alt.support.asthma/browse_thread/thread/b7546402a4e00f">
