Question:
I have had asthma for 20 years, but it is non-allergic
asthma. I do not wheeze nor do I really have asthma
attacks anymore. But I have been told I have cardiac
asthma. Have any of you ever heard of this and what is your
experience.
Answer:
I got lazy and pasted this from Dr Koops site as it is an excellent
definition.. http://www.drkoop.com/conditions/encyclopedia/articles/001000a/001000Cardiac asthma is an asthma-like attack that accompanies congestive heart
failure. The condition is marked by bronchospasms and wheezing, as well as
rapid, shallow breathing, increased blood pressure and heart rate, and a
feeling of apprehension. Cardiac asthma is a life-threatening disorder that is
caused by body fluids being pushed back through the pulmonary (lung)
capillaries. The fluids then quickly enter the bronchioles and alveoli,
triggering the symptoms. The condition is sometimes called cardiasthma.
