Question:
I suffered from asthma from birth to age 13. Then it stopped.
Thankfully, having a history of asthma got me out of the draft during the
Viet Nam War. Everything was fine until last year this time when I came
down with horribly debilitating symptoms. I am 48 years old and have
trouble going to the grocery store. I am tired all the time, can't breathe,
cough constantly. Prescriptions: Prednisone, (or Decadron) Theo 24, Aerobid inhaler, Serevent
inhaler, Combivent inhaler. Singulair at night. Nebulizer with Albuterol
and Atrovent. Thank goodness I work at home because otherwise I couldn't
work. I feel bad all the time. Anyone out there in a similar situation? Any words of wisdom, wit or
sympathy for someone who is essentially cut down in midlife? I should
mention I was an amateur musician and pretty much can't do that anymore.
I was one of the most active guys I know, not sports wise, just going- and-doing things-wise. I've heard about therapy, self taught, something by Paul Sorbino the actor,
a tape or something. Does anyone have details? Anything good?
Answer:
i am 38 years old and was told i had asthma about 12
years ago. so strange it seems to have disappeared for 4-5 years. now it is
back. a asthma attack will actually last 2 months or more. constantly
wheezing and short of breath etc. i am very active and always have been
healthly. can not figure out why this is happening except soemthing with
allergies. i do not smoke but am constantly congested feeling ugh. most days
i feel like my throat is closing up on me. do you feel like that?? that is most
scary! just wanted to share this with you because i am quite depressed about
it!
