Question:
My bf is having problems with asthma, and hsn't gotten an inhaler in years.
I was shocked to find out that Shopper's and the Walmart phrmacies don't
ahve ANYTHING in the way of over the counter relief.. any advice?
Answer:
I'm not aware of any OTC medications for asthma approved in Canada. The only home remedy I'm aware of, and that's only a stop-gap measure not to
be seen as a substitute for an inhaler, is very strong coffee and lots of
it. Asthma is serious, why doesn't he get inhalers -- the cortisone as well
as the bronchodilator?
But the best way is to see a doctor, they're really good at diagnosing things
like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchitis and other
respiratory illnesses. They can even prescribe ventolin, atrovent, salbutamol,
and other inhalers. Seriously though, asthma can be very serious, then again
it may not even be asthma.
