Question:
Does anyone now how I can locate an allergy support group or classes? I
have called the local dr.s and hospitals, no luck.
My 7 month old son has severe eczema. I amgoing to try a rotation diet and
keeping dust down. I have already done chiropractic and professional
homeopathic constiutional treatment. Hewas so severe, his skin was scabbing
and bleeding, and steroid ointments seemed to help but only for a week or so
before the symptoms would return whil still in treatment. Any experience
out there?
Answer:
Your best two chances for an allergy support group are to call your
public library and have them look in the Encyclopedia of Associations
for the phone number of the (National?) Asthma & Allergy Foundation
(of America?) -- I'm not sure of the exact wording, but anything that
includes "Asthma & Allergy Foundation" will be what you're looking
for.
They sponsor many support groups across the country.
Your other chance is to start a group yourself. Be aware, though,
that it takes a lot of time. I started one in our area (Durham, N.C.)
and have found that most people are very interested in having periodic
guest speakers, especially doctors from whom they can get information
and evaluate as a prospective physician for themselves, but people, at
least so far, are not that interested in meeting regularly for the
purpose of emotional support.
