Question:
I'm going to the USA for the next two years in January. I'm using
Allergospasmin-Spray against asthma. How can I figure out what's the
alternative for this spray in the USA? My doctor told me to show my
spray at the drugstore and they choose the right spray because of the
ingredients. I don't trust that way. Any hints?
I'm also looking for URLs of Online-Drugstores.
Answer:
The only inhalers for the treatment of asthma that are available in the USA
over-the-counter (that is, without a doctor's prescription) contain
epinephrine (adrenaline), a drug that is all but obsolete (in this
dosage form). Anything stronger for acute or chronic treatment of
asthma, such as more selective beta agonists (e.g., albuterol/salbutamol),
corticosteroids or mast cell inhibitors (e.g., cromolyn) requires a
prescription.
If you're going to be in the USA for two years, and you have asthma,
you probably want to have a local doctor who can prescribe what you need
anyway.
